The project has applied the technology “the district heating system with Co-generation based on absorption heat-exchange (Co-ah system)” and has installed two surplus heat recovery heat pump units in the First Combined Heat and Power Plant of Datong to recycle surplus heat of the exhausted steam from those turbines and the heat is used for heating in shanty town and subsidence area of Datong Coal Mine Group. At the same time, Absorption heat-exchange units with large water temperature difference have been installed in some thermal substations. The heating competence of the first station has been increased by 49% and transportation capacity of thermal network has been increased by 38%. The reconstruction project could satisfy the heat demand of the two districts, 6.38 million square meters in total.
