Shanxi Datang International Yungang heat and power Co. Ltd (Yungang power plant in short) is one of the planned urban heating sources in Datong. The project, which applies HYTM’S district heating system with Co-generation based on absorption heat-exchange (Co-ah system) technology, recycles surplus heat from exhausted steam from Yungang power plant’s 2x220MW units (the first period) and 2x300MW units (the second period) to improve the heating ability of power plant and the efficiency of energy utilization. At the same time, it contributes to reduce the temperature of return water in thermal network which helps the recovery of surplus heat from exhausted steam. After finishing the project, the heating competence from the recycled exhausted steam is equal to reducing 21.6 thousand tons of SO2 emissions, 718 thousand tons of CO2 emissions, 10.7 thousand tons of NOx emissions, 195 thousand tons of flue gas emission and 127 thousand tons of ash emission.
